Check out battery powered saws. If it's only gonna be used occasionally you might not want a gas powered saw...

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

455 rancher is a great saw if you wanted something a little smaller you could get a 445 or 435. My pick would be the rancher.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

Don't get just a homeowner version. Look up the specs on Husqvarnas. I would get one at least low end professional. They cut faster and have more bar options.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Stihl or Echo. What you have to do as the consumer is decide how much you want to spend and what size bar you think you might need.

Best all-around saw would either be the MS291 or MS311 if you need a little extra. I have an older Stihl MS310 and IMO it's one of the best all around saws.

A mans got to know his limitations.

A stihl ms290 with a 20" bar is hard to beat for a all around saw. Me and my brother both one when that model was the farm boss. We've used them for fence row clean up,fall trees, work up fire wood, clean up the hunting property. Mines 10 years old his is 8 years old. I'm on my second bar and he just put a new bar on his last year. They're both german made saws are the new ones still made in germany?

Stihl 261
I have the 291, it's a nice saw but has too much plastic
I was in a bind and that was the one they had on hand.
I've a had an 034 since the mid 80's and the 261 is supposedly comparable.
I sold the 034 for $100 a few months back.

Stihl or Echo I have a Echo that is at least 10 years old and cranks on the second pull every time, I even forgot and left gas in it all winter and it started right up.

Stihl or Husqvarna. I would not get a homeowner saw. A professional saw will last and retain value. Homeowner saws are throw away. They are meant to last for a specified number of hours.

If I were to get a saw from a big box store I would get an Echo Timberwolf. I like the Husqvarna Rancher series but can't speak to the newer saws quality. I have also heard it went downhill. The newer Echo saws are Shindaiwa and they are good saws.

My main saws are Stihl. But their homeowner grade stuff is pure and simple JUNK. I have owned some non-professional line saws and weedeaters and have never had a bigger piece of garbage in my life. I would rather have a Troy-Bilt weedeater.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
