I find it very troubling the number of so called hunters trying to teach others how to do hunting activities on Youtube. As an example of what is causing me grief is guys showing how to use a climber or hang a loc on, most of them never mention safety or use a lifeline nor safety harness. This is troubling and irresponsible. I have my own views on safety practiced that were strongly influenced by hanging upside down 20 foot above the ground. I was wearing a harnesss, but not attached to the tree yet. I wore a harness when only belts came with stands. My point is these idiots are giving lessons that will get someone hurt or killed. Young hunters need good safety lessons, not methods to die.
Rant over.

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

If being a dumbass was fatal some of you would be on your death bed!

They aint but about 2 guys on youtube that even know what theyre talkin about an both of them tell folks to wear a harness. They wear rock climbin harnesses as do i.most videos on the youtube are stupid. I highly reccommend these few folks if your cruizin around bored. Lookup: Bowana's vids hes a good dude an self films in atlanta suburbs. Then there is the DIY sportsman hes got good instructional videos, chris spikes has good self filmed bowhunts and hes a trad guy that kills alot of public labd deer, and warren womack.. This gentleman is a public land self filming bowhunting legend who has killed several hundred deer with a bow, hes getting older now but still hes as knowledgeable a bowhunter as ive ever seen an he has a few instructional videos to.

I can't tell you how many videos I watched when I was trying to learn how to start hunting that were terrible advice, but I had no idea. Oh the things I have learned the last 2 seasons...

I remember one of the first videos I watched talking about tree stands said never to use a climber on pine trees because the bark flakes off and you will slide off and die...so my first season I never climbed a pine....LOL.

That's true on skinny bark pines (don't know what they're actually called) which leaves me with a dilemma cause I have a spot where 3 trails converge on the edge of a cutover and the ONLY tree I can cover all three trails from is one of those skinny bark pines. Yes I've climbed it and will again but I don't like it and I make sure my climber bites as hard as I can make it every step of the way.
