Came thru lowes this morning and they had at least 50 chinese chestnut trees about 5 ft tall come in. They were about $32.

These worth getting or better off just ordering some dunstan or a couple of each for down a fence row?

Chinese chestnuts produce more than Dunstans. What Lowe's was this? Dunstans grow taller, Chinese tend to be more bushy and shorter

Dustans are grafted so will start producing by year 3-5, but chinese will produce a heavier crop. I started 17 chinese chestnut tree's from chestnut's themselves and have them in 3 gallon containers. I'll plant them this fall.

If you have hogs in the area, get ready for them to hammer your chestnuts. They will travel miles to hit them.

Isn't it kind of late in the year to be planting trees?

I would definitely wait until next winter to buy and plant trees unless you have the ability to keep them watered through the summer. We've been getting a lot of rain but transplanting trees this time of year is tough on them.

I'd keep in pots till Feb so you can water em every couple of days till planting time.
