Since there was discussion about the best decades
Who are some What If athletes that come to mind for y'all? I always put these in there
Linnie Patrick - probably would have been one of the best end zone to end zone but he was taken out by that space that runs ear to ear.
Tiger - Not a fan of his but he had potential to be one of if not the greatest
Dupree - Injuries and hangers on
Len Bias - Booger Sugar
Player from NC State early 80's - I don't even remember what happened to him but I do recall him being an amazing basketball player back when it was entertaining to watch.
Dwight Gooden - Dope
Lectron Williams -
There's a huge list of Mr. Football Winner for the State of Alabama that never even scratched the surface of their potential.

Dan Marino-Dolphins offense would score 50 points a game but their defense would give up 51.
Dwight Stephenson-Could have been THE best NFL center of all time but injuries cut him short.
Barry Sanders-Could have won 5 Super Bowls if he had been on any team but the Lions.
NBA-I've seen Shaq, Penny Hardaway, Antonio McDyss in person, but the best basketball player I've ever seen was a guy named, Burley Bonner from Crestview, Florida. He was first team all-state and recruited by dozens of D1 schools but never played in college because his grades sucked. Last I heard, he was on his second round in prison

Bo-injury
Satchel and Gibson- because of racism
Andre Bruce- too dumb. Should have played basketball because he was incredible
Ryan Leaf- I've never seen a guy with more physical tools at that position
JR Richards - stroke
Davey Allison - killed in his prime
Barry Sanders- quit
Ernie Davis - died

Kulwicki was another that was probably going to be a good one for NASCAR.

I'm going to throw one out there y'all may have heard of, but for different reasons. I had a couple of roommates at AU on the baseball team so I knew most of the team. One guy I knew, but not well was the leadoff hitter. He was known to teammates as Bert. He was the epitome of a leadoff hitter, even leading the SEC in BA one year, I believe. He didn't socialize much because he studied instead. In 4 years he made one B. The rest were As. Instead of pursuing a pro baseball career, he decided to accept the offer to attend med school. Now he is known years later as Dr. Robert Sorrell MD.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Geez, I forgot about Terrance Williams. I remember him. Heck of a player.
Kulwicki was a really nice guy. Tough competitor but not the stereotypical redneck race car driver. He easily could have been a CEO at a huge company IMO.

Ted Williams. Having to leave baseball to serve in WW2 and missed a lot due to the Korean War. To leave your career to serve the country in your prime, and still be one the greatest hitters of all time says a lot. No telling what his career numbers would have been if he had those years back.
Ken Griffey Jr. If not for all the injuries in Cincinnati, no doubt in my mind he would be the all time home run king.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Kerry Wood coached my oldest grandson Owen Meadows in Little League here in Chicago. He was an awesome kids' coach, and a super nice guy. His dad would come up from Texas to watch Kerry's son Justin play. We'd sit together and chew the fat. Kerry's dad played minor league baseball and coached Kerry as a kid. Class family
