Anybody shoot them? What's the good the bad and the ugly when dealing
with moly coated barrels?

Got 1500 in .45acp once. Not worth the trouble although they were "slicker" than noncoated bullets.

I've always read that once you shoot them, you should stay exclusively moly. As far as I know and recall, they are just to add lubrication to help with throat erosion and barrel wear. No rifle I have do I shoot enough to come close to worrying about that.

I've just acquired a 22-250 that has shot moly bullets its whole life. I don't have any .224 bullets that are moly coated and not sure I want to start trying to coat
them myself. I guess I could coat them myself but will be a mess.

Anyone know what the process is to switch back to regular jacketed
bullets?
That may not even be an option but thought I would ask.

Here's a fresh take. I'm not sure,i guess shoot it and see what it does and change barrells if need be.

only moly coated bullets I've used were Federal 270s loaded with 130gr Barnes moly coated bullets. Shot patterns instead of groups and also shot 24" lower than a 130BT by Federal at 250 yards. Threw em in the garbage.

Moly coated bullets cause noting but trouble. You can clean it out of the barrel, but it will take hours and you need to use JB Paste and Kroil oil. Not an exercise I would recommend. Very few benchrest shooter still use moly because the molt Will build up in the barrel and it must be cleaned to restore lost accuracy.

Stay away from moly bullets.
