If your going to pay decent money for a lab the first thing you ask for is proof of OFA hips and elbows, EIC and CNM clearances and an eye clearance on both the side and dam. If they can't provide proof of all of that then move on. If you would like some help feel free to PM and I will be glad to point you in the right direction. I've bought one hell of a lot of dogs in the last few years and know plenty of reputable breeders should you want a lab. I would like a Lab but I wasn't sure I could get a real quality dog for the kind of money I want to spend. What kind of money are we talking for a quality Lab with good bloodline?

It varies but with some patience you can find a solid litter with health clearances in the 5-600 range. You may have to travel a bit to get one but they are out there. I know of a really nice breeding around Mobile for 800 right now but there are less expensive options for sure. Right now is a lab buyers market. There are several litters out there that started high but as the pups got older prices were pushed down to move them. I just sold some super bred pups with all health clearances clear for $500. I might know someone with a great deal. I'll check with him tomorrow when we train and see if he has any left.
