Does anyone have a good name?

Where are you trapping and what are you trapping? Does anyone have a hog problem?

I'll be in Crenshaw county and setting trap and night calling for coyote but I don't have any hogs to go after. With the DP traps I'm always catching coons and possums.

I am not a trapper but like to stalk/call them in.

Winston & Walker is where I'll be trapping. I have a couple hundred acres in Walker, but in Winston my land is surrounded by the Bankhead sportsman club, and I have permission to run traps anywhere on their club which is several thousand acres.

I put a few DPs out this afternoon and did 1 coyote set. I am glad I ordered some 30" anchors and had some peat moss.

Y'all ever used fish guts in your dirt hole sets. I have a bunch of trout guts in the freezer. I know when I was cleaning the fish my dogs wanted them. I'm going
to thaw them Sunday, and put a bunch of sheep wool in there with them to soak up the smell. I'm hoping by doing that I don't have as many problems with ants

I think it needs to dry out a little. I had a trap in a roadbed in a clearcut last night that got washed out of the ground with tracks all around it this morning. The track came up the roadbed to the trap and just turned around and went back the way the came.

This happened to me last month. I ran 12 sets, in 10 days I caught one yote due to the 5.5 inches of rain we got during that time. Washed out sets, silted in dirt holes, or they would be full of water.

Okay, it looks like we may have 4-5 days of dry weather so I'm going to try and put my trap back in the ground this weekend. If it didn't rain at the farm today I may be able to find a few fresh tracks.

I had a yote get caught in one of my sets last night but pulled out. First time that's happened to me.

Tough break CNC. I still can't get my traps in the ground from all the rain. I also still have 3 bags of chufa I need to plant. I think this is the most rain we have had since 95 with Alberto dropped all the rain in Alabama and Georgia.

It's too dang hot to trap yotes!!....I can't make a set right now without dripping sweat everywhere I'm trying to work. I guess you just have to give it some time for the scent to dissipate. It may be best to make the sets and then hide them with a limb for a few days before baiting with scent/lure. Any set I've made in the last few days has definitely been tainted with a lot of human scent.

I’m having a streak of bad luck. That last round of trapping I did must have went way too easy…… so now I’m being humbled. I’ve have three traps tripped on this property now without a catch. I’m about to have to get mad at ‘em I guess.

It has finally dried out and I got 5 traps in the ground yesterday.
I went down yesterday morning and did some calling with no luck so I decided to finally plant some of my chufa since it had not rained in 3 days. I went and got the tractor and cut through my uncles yard (He only stay there 6-7 weekends a year)and a coyote was in the back yard watching me go by. After I planted the chufa I went back and called with no luck. I walked around the house a saw that the coyote is staying on the porch. He seems to lay at the back door and there is scat all over the porch. So I set a trap at the edge of the yard and got some of the scat to put around my other traps. Now as strange as this may be there is a deer that beds under the porch, tracks everywhere and she seems to lay in the same spot at the corner. This house is only about 250 yards from our hunting camp. I may put up a camera just to get a picture.

It rained yesterday and i had to reset 3 traps this morning. I did have 1 coon.

I'm afraid my targets have become edjumicated. Just not getting much action on the dirt holes. I'm gonna have to try something different I believe.

CNC they aren't educated! Predators don't like hunting when the moon is full, combine that with the muggy temps the past 2 weeks and you have little to no activity on anything.

I had to reset my traps again this morning, we had another good rain last night. I did have a coon and possum on my DPs this morning.

I just need 3-4 days of dry weather just to make me fell like I have a chance.

Getting monsoonal rains on my sets today. I may pull my traps tomorrow instead of remaking them, I don't know. I'm getting kind of discouraged on this one. It's just completely dead. I'm wondering if maybe there's a lot of easy prey right now and the yotes just aren't that hungry. There's a lot of small young critters running around.


Speaking of.....on a positive note, when I pulled out of the driveway this morning I saw a turkey hen crossing the road with a bunch of young juvenile turkeys. I guess my trapping efforts back in the spring may have paid off a little.

I'll wait and see what the ran does this weekend but I may put out some trap again. If I can run some next week I should be able to come back and set traps the last week of the month. I need to put a coyote of fox on the board to keep up with some of the catches in the last week from teams 1 & 2.

I'm not going out like that....There's still hope. New target acquired on the home front. Traps being deployed. Time to put on our rally caps fellas....

I have been laid up with back problems most of July and am just now able to be up and moving. Needless to say, I have not been in the woods and apologize for not being able to participate in the contest.

Hey DeerTracker, you take care of your back and get better. This contest is for fun and we hope you can get back in the woods soon.

It's all good man...hope your back is doing better. I reckon my yote was just a roamer passing through. No sign of it since passing by my camera.

I finally got a couple days off and decent weather and my truck craps out on me.
