I just want to bring up some different discussion topics. How long do you normally sit a stand? Does it vary by time of season? Moon phase? Conditions? Wife wanting to go Christmas shopping? What say ye?

I usually don't hunt till Jan. and I try to sit all day. I do sometimes go back to the house to eat. It just depends on the day.

Anywhere from 3 hours to daylight till dark. Just depends on several factors.

I know a guy that hunts an hour or so most days and he kills a good many deer. He is a moon phase guy. I get caught up in the morning hunt and then evening hunt. He sometimes gets in his stand at 10 am and leaves at 11:30. Granted there have been times where he was coming in and I was leaving with a deer and he didn't see any.

The further I have to drive to the hunt, the longer I will usually sit to make it count.

I dont hunt anymore. I just sit in a tree and stare around at nothing the whole time. But usually when I do that it's dang near all day

Morning: from sunrise to 11:00am (4-1/2 hrs)
Afternoon: 2:00 to sunset (3+ hrs)

Bow season i sit until it gets hot, usually no later than 10am. During the rut, i sit until i quit seeing deer for an hour or too, usually until 11 or 12, sometimes 1. My son saw a lot of mid afternoon action last year around 1-2, and then nothing after 3 until dark.

Till i kill somethin hehe... Nah prolly 4-8hrs on average, depends on how good a spot im in.

Daylight to dark most of the time.

Usually, about an hour. If I've done my homework, I've got him pretty much figured out.

I can't take much more than 3-4 hours, but I'm not much of a deer hunter.

Dark to 10;00 in the morning usually 2:30 till dark in the evenings.

I just sit until I feel like getting out. The two biggest deer I killed in the last few years was middle day during rut time

This normally what I do but I will slip / scout from 10 -1 A few times a season

Well before daylight till at least 1030-11, more are the than not 12. Then back in the stand no later than 1-130 till I can't see anymore.

Got some hard core folks on here. I don't think there's ever a day I could hunt all day. Always have other things I need to do.
