Obamacare needs to be erased and dismantled, period.
With that accomplished, then some sweeping health insurance reforms must be implemented to reduce costs of insurance on the free market by fostering an environment that promotes competition while offering lots of buyer options. Specifically options for individuals to purchase individual plans or join group coverage outside of employment plans.
For those who don't qualify for Medicaid, can't afford full coverage individual/group plans AND don't have access to employer provided plans to have access to minimum coverage for a safety net from financial disaster, this need can be addressed by the creation of a voluntary national major medical pool. End the ridiculous tax credits that give $ out to those who paid none or little federal income tax-end most of the foreign aid to corrupt countries-drastically reduce the size and scope of the federal government.... and redirect all of that federal money to supplement this safety net coverage. When serious medical problems hit, this will reduce the financial calamity and ruin for many people...which ultimately cost us the working tax payers billions.
If insurance is fixed then health care costs can then be addressed. Hospitals, doctors and the various medical fields deserve to make money and reap profits. Covering the costs of uninsured or unable to pay along with high costs due regulation and litigation creates an environment that is very expensive. The way things work now is broken though. Some serious reforms are required here too.
Then there is the American appetite for someone else to provide for them...namely the dependent mindset looking to the government and not striving to be personally responsible. This is not easily corrected.
Supposed conservatives hold the House, Senate and Presidency. The opportunity is there if they have the balls. But in reality this is an exposure...there are very few true conservatives in DC and lots of Progressive Pretenders. True colors are showing. Where is the real change? I'm afraid it will never happen in this current system.

I would think that the lack of support on this bill by constitutional conservatives such as Lee, Paul and Cruz would be a concern for the rest of us conservatives. Plus the fact that it's McConnell's and Ryan's bill and supported by the democratic wing of the Republican Party. This isn't what we were promised and what we voted for. I'm a supporter of the President but he ran on full repeal and competition across state lines. I understand it's complicated but the Republicans are the ones that have been saying full repeal of federal government health care since the day he was signed into law so anything less should be unacceptable from us.
Another thing which should be the most important. If it's not good enough for them to be on it then why should it be for the rest of us.

What gripes my butt is that the democrats don't do anything but yell NO to the improving/repeal of obamacare. If they would join in on the discussion the damn crazy bunch in Washington might get something done. Right, even Hillary admitted it needed some changes and was gonna tackle it. They want to obstruct , no compromise at all now.

I keep wondering where the outrage toward this president and congess is and why people aren't blowing up social media letting them know they expect promises to be kept. This legislation looks like something Obama would have been happy with but there is not only no outrage, there are people mad that Lee and the others won't get on board. I think some are just cheerleaders that are happy with anything the president puts out and others are so disillusioned and numb after seeing more of the same old politics as usual that he isn't getting any real push back.

I'm asking this out of my own ignorance. Why would you assume Franks is telling the truth? I know enough about Cruz and Lee to trust them. Not many others.

Fatty I don't know Franks either.I do know this same thing as been being repeated since this all started. It has also been said this if it is not completed destroyed it can be revived if another Democrat become President. It seems the procedures to make and revoke laws are not as simple as we would like.

I've said it before and I'll say it one more time for us numb disillusioned cheerleaders(yes, stay above the name calling Bill). The rules of the senate, the way they are today, there will not be a REPEAL of Obamacare. And even if they were changed today say to a simple majority, you will never, ever get the support for full repeal...it will never ever happen, unless Washington magically turns into the Conservative Utopia that's dreamed of.
It's all politics at this point, plain and simple, wins and losses. If all you are holding out hope for a full repeal, then I hope you enjoy Obamacare. Again - I would just like to see things go back to pre-Obamacare, but it ain't happening. It's going to have to be chipped away on and it's going to require compromise. I know that is a word that many on here don't believe in in governance, but you all do it every single day when dealing with your work, business, family, friends, etc.

It can be repealed. One sentence. Just one. "The affordable care act shall be repealed in full, immediately." Put it to vote. Note who didn't vote for it. Get to work on mid-terms. Simple as that. No compromise.

Just saw where Trumps Super PAC is going to run ads against Lee,,Cruz and Paul because they won't vote for the crappy Trump Care bill. So, we are down to 3 representatives in all of government that are trying to live up to the promises that were made and they are about to get some free advertising for doing the right thing? That's a page right out of the Scientology manual on how to deal with dissenters.

Cruz was my choice all the way thru. He's still showing that he want's small, sensible government
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Trump supporters would support him if he proposed Obamacare word for word.
