The lease holder of my turkey lease sent me this picture today. I need some thoughts on the picture below. I had 1.5 acres of chufa planted in this spot last year. My friend ran a chisel plow through this entire chufa plot at the end of turkey season for me. This chufa plot was clean as whistle as in grass and weed free. I haven't been back since the end of April so I'm wondering if this looks like a volunteer stand of chufa to y'all?

Comes to us at midnight very clean.
It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands.
It hopes we've learned something from yesterday."

Yes, but it sure looks thick. It's not hard to generate a volunteer stand after the first year of growing them, but it's better to disk them 3 times instead of once with a chisel plow. If those were mine, I'd be tempted to let them make whatever they will at this point. If it keeps raining and you fertilize them well, they could make a good crop.

I have a small volunteer patch I disked twice. It's been too wet to disk the third time and they are now over knee high, so I just put the fertilizer to them Saturday and hope that it keeps raining. Good luck with them.

looks more like nutsedge or ryegrass to me, but it's late for ryegrass to look like that. The blades don't look as wide as chufa to me but PCP knows a lot more about chufas than I do

It is wet indeed, and only half of the chufas are planted. And the forecast is for more rain, so it may be July before I can finish planting.
