I have an opportunity to trade for one. Does anyone have an experience with one? If so, what are your thoughts?

I have one in 280 Remington that I've been pleased with.

They don't need much but there is seemingly zero aftermarket support.

I had one in 7mm-08 and my daughter could shoot 3 shoots groups with it that would have all three holes touching. That's not bragging on her shooting, but more how well the rifle would shoot. The only problem, was it was heavy and she didn't like carrying it.

Pretty much sums it up.If the weight is OK for you, most are tack drivers.Just make sure you like the fit and weight.

I have one in 7-08 I bought for my son when he was 2. Put it away in the safe until he was old enough to shoot it, pulled it out and sighted it in, and like every other Steyr I own...it's a tack driver.

Maybe a little heavy, but there's something about the design of the Steyrs that somehow dissipates recoil better than any other rifle design I've ever seen.

Have you tried Google?

I bought mine with the intention of being a power line gun.
The Steiner scope I put on it is also heavy.

Pretty much the same with me.Ive had one in 260,300win (forestor model),and 7-08..I despise the stocks on them and there is pretty much zero aftermarket stocks made for them.I emailed Steyr about ordering a wood stock for the 7-08 I had and they quoted me a ridiculous price at like $1000 or $1100 can't remember. They are great guns and very accurate if they fit you but they just don't fit me at all.I'll stick with my 700's and m77's

Have one in 7mm-08 it is a tack driver. No complaints. They are a standard 7.5 pound gun. Stocks fit me just fine.

I talked to one of the guys at Steyr in Bessemer. was told they have dealt with Boyds about making stocks, but nothing yet.

A pepper laminate prairie hunter stock on a stainless Steyr would be nice!!!It's the stocks that turns me off about em.

My 270 does this with factory ammo. Was sighting in, liked the 3-shot group, wanted it higher. Up 4 clicks, take shot #4, pack up and leave range.

My Stainless Pro Hunter w/ camo stock in .280 Rem is the one rifle that I would not part with. It is silly accurate w/ a Zeiss Diavari sitting on top.

I had a 30-06 Pro Hunter and now have a .270 Mountain and both were sub MOA guns.
