Looking at purchasing 100-200 AC of land for family hunting and investment. I know just enough on pine farming to ask good questions maybe😳. I know most pine timber cut in Montgomery, Bullock, and Macon county is gonna be hauled to Prattville. So market and timing become key. Anybody got a reputable forester they can suggest? I have a lot of questions on who to contact on timber value when looking at a tract to possibly buy, cost of replanting, etc.

Either one of those guys would be a great choice. I can vouch for bwhunter as I know him personally. If you have any questions about the “neighborhood” the property is located in….let me know and I may be able to give you a better idea. I blood track for a lot of people in the area you’re looking. If I were looking for a piece of property around here then I’d pull up the soil maps and look at the ones located in the black belt soil areas. Frank Thomas has several properties for sale that you might want to check out….give him a call. There’s one he’s got for sale just outside of Pike Rd that may be one to look at. I've only rode by it a few times and seen it from the road but it falls within the prime soil area that I'm referring to.
