Looking for some advice. Never planted anything in the summer. Want to plant something on about 1-1.5 acres behind house in Shelby county.....just to attract and hold deer....provide some protein....

Go to the QDMA section. Lots of good info there from guys that've tried lots of different stuff. Soybeans are hard to grow on a plot that small if you have a decent herd of deer. They wipe them out. Some guys have good luck with IC peas. I've never grown lab-lab. Sunn hemp is a good choice if you don't want to spend money fencing off a bunch of beans or peas.

Just get a bag of Biologic biomass all legume. Soybeans, iron & clay peas, and lab lab. Easy to plant and grows well. Fertilize & lime to soil test & you'll be fine.
