They were at a dump site taking pictures when a big female made a quick charge toward them. She stopped near my wife and my FIL told her to stand completely still. The Bear walked up to her and grabbed her by the thigh and shook her pretty good. It then let her go and ran off. The forestry and Wildlife folks tried to locate the bear unsuccessfully. She still has the scars and fang marks after all these 30+ years.

They were probably running to that cow call. I had 2 juveniles in Kodaik come in pretty hard responding to my rabbit in distress call while fox hunting. I was hunting with a 22, lol. I haven't had a bear stalk me to my knowledge here in Oregon but, I have had a mountain lion stalking me while cow calling.
