H seems to be slower burning than Imr but since Hogdon's bought out Imr i'm not sure. What you planning on using it in?

Are you planning on taking an old load recipe using IMR 4198 and replacing it with H4198? If so I would error on the side of caution and work the load up again. Just my .02

New smokeless muzzleloader made from an Encore .45-70 barrel. I have never fired one. In the burn charts I looked at online, the two powders were right beside each other and folks out there shooting smokeless MZ's seem to use them interchangeably. I dunno.

I'd say use with caution. I use both, but the manuals I've seen call for a little different charges.

Finally dug around on the smokeless MZ forums enough until I found lots of pressure testing data for H4198 (which is what I'm starting with) with the Barnes 195 and harvester sabot. Really low pressures even at 2600 fps. Ready to get this thing back and touch it off!

When I get the barrel back and get the scope mounted, I will snap a few. It looks just like every other Encore Pro-Hunter though....will just be more bad arse with that breech plug in it though. LOL!
