That is a big hive and by the color of that comb it's been there for quite a while. Did you get the queen?
Save all of that wood that you cut out. It will be coated with propolis and is an excellent at attracting bees in a swarm trap.

The guy said he had seen them there for at least three years. Yes Sir I did get the queen. Ill have to try the boards in the trap, I havn't thought of that. I use Swarm Commander in my traps. That's all I have ever tried.

I use SC too, but a trap works much better with a propolis coated board laid on the floor inside it.
I have one in the bed of my truck and when I was making splits on my tailgate the other day, it ended up covered in "lost" bees.
