What are some things you believe are factual among turkey hunters? Here's a couple...

1. A short turkey hunter has an advantage over a taller hunter. He can hide so much better in the early season when there is no foilage.

2. A turkey hunter who can't count and shoots over the limit always has too many places to hunt. He doesn't want to kill over the limit and be a game hawg, he does it so the turkeys don't overpopulate and die to a disease.

Let's list some more...

When asked if the birds are gobbling, the answer is always "No"

Woods birds are far easier to kill than pasture birds.

7. A Jake can be your best friend (cause that big gobbler to come in range) or your worst enemy(he comes in silent and putts and ruins everything).

It's really smart to keep blowing an owl call at a turkey who is already gobbling 4 times a minute.

This whole thread is silly. The term "turkey hunting facts" is an oxymoron of the highest order.

Only way to get better is to actually spend the time going and messing up instead of just reading how to hunt on aldeer or any forum/magazine

Field birds are very hard to kill unless I use dirty tricks on them. I consider fans, decoys, and patterning them all to be dirty tricks.

Rule 14: If he's in the right mood, anyone can call one up. It takes a woodsman to get within range of a 3-4 year old bottomland gobbler. Crawling beats calling. Calling is so overrated.

Rule 14b (can't keep track of numbers above). Internet turkey hunters are far superior hunters than anyone I've ever met in person.

I've crawled up on my fair share of em. And the only time I ever felt sorry for one and didn't shoot him it put me in a slump. Had to shoot 4 jakes and a bearded hen to get over it.

Time to hunt and good turkey property are more important than anything else. After these I think it is patience, woodsmanship and then calling. Just my experience for what its worth.

Fact

Don't believe anything a turkey hunter says.

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

That's what you get when you turn down an offering like that

Just be thankful that you didn't have to resort to the # 1 slumpbuster...

There is no being to aggressive or to patient just depends on the bird.
