He'll get in. No way in hell they keep him out.

In a way, I hope we hear something in 25-30 years about "Remember Dale Earnhardt Jr. retiring? He certainly did, stepping away completely from racing to be with his family and this fishing-hunting lifestyle he's enjoyed out of the public eye."

I mean, he has family, health (mostly), money out the wazoo, wants to rear a family, and could do all that away from racing with token - if any - involvement. I hope he says adios and enjoys life.

Hell, one guy got in just for being black

You talking about Wendell Scott? That SOB was one of the best drivers ever. Ask any of his contemporaries and they will tell you. He was cheated out of several wins by track owners including one where he had lapped the field and they gave the win to Ned Jarrett.

I liked the Dale Jr prior to 2001. He was never the same driver after his dad died. NASCAR is toast

there were more people at dega a couple weeks ago, in the campgrounds and at the races, than I've seen in probably 10yrs.

I may be wrong but I think what you saw in attendance was deceiving. Dega's taken out 18k seats.

They've actually taken out around 70K. Ten years ago the grandstand seating capacity was around 150K. It's now 80K.

I know I'm in the minority in here but I been going to and watching NASCAR for ni-on 40 years and still enjoy it. Maybe not as enthusiastic as I once was but still watch every week. Or at least have it tuned in.

From what I heard from some family that own a campground there, this appears to be true. How many actually went to the race may be a different story but from what I hear the campgrounds were a lot busier than years past.

I'm with you TC. Still watch most every week and went to the truck race here in Charlotte last weekend. Some races are snoozers but the new format has brought back some excitement to it.

Yep, they took out the entire Allison grandstand.
