4 words-Not Heavy just awkward.

we used to have one of those big leather couches with the recliners built into both ends......HEAVY.

Also very cumbersome and nearly impossible to fit through a doorway. Loved the couch but it was a bear to move. Our dog ended up tearing a hole in the seat and we replaced it. I either gave it away (or sold it really cheap, don't remember which) with the caveat that whoever got it had to come get it.

Couple of college kids came and toted it out the front door and out of my life for good. I'll never have another one unless A) I have a house with double doors, and B) I get "un-cheap" enough to pay someone to bring it in.

Up stairs

I had a couch with recliners. We somehow had gotten it upstairs once upon a time. I paid someone to bring it back down when time came.

Dang, I have a pool table, big safe, sleeper sofa, and an old coin op Dynamo foosball table that feels like it's made out of lead. Anyone want to help me move?

Don't you havea pickup? We are going to be moving SOON! This always broke me into a sweat.

Cat hair

Damn right, my sister's husband had cats before they got married and that shat was EVERY WHERE in his house. Naturally, I helped him move and I itched for a week from satan's vermon hair.

I was thinking it was would u help me move ?

I got out of helping my sister move in to their new house due to cat hair. They had 2 of those god awful rag doll cats that have real long hair. Told them to have everything professionally cleaned or I wasn't helping.

There are a few things in life I absolutely will not ask my friends to help with. Moving is at the top of that list.

But yes, you guys are correct. Having a pickup seems to make you the popular man when it's time to move anything...especially neighbors.

So called buddy:
The piano is upstairs by the gunsafe, but we'll have to get the pool table out of the way first. I'll try to have the pool took down by time you get here. Do you have any hand trucks or dollies? The little woman will go to McDonald's to get us some lunch when we're ready for it.

Um, uh, uh, oh yeah, my truck wont start. I think it's the discombobulation, synchronizer um, module thingy. Parts won't be in until next month. Good luck with the move. Bye.

Funny story. When I was at Auburn my boss at the shop where I worked when I wasn't in class sent me and two other guys to a business buddy's house with a moving truck. We were under the impression that we were gonna grab a few small items and be outta there. Nope. Whole house completely full of chit. Nothing packed. First thing we have to do is move the furniture in his bedroom. Dressers full of stuff. Nothing wrapped up and we didn't have anything to secure the drawers. Eff it, we'll just balance it. 1,2,3 stand up with this huge dresser. Top two drawers come flying out and his wife's lingerie just explode across the room. Been in this guy's house maybe 5 minutes. Spend the next minute scrambling to pick up all of the g-strings and see-through stuff while trying to reassemble the now busted up top drawer. Literally push the drawer back in and turn around to the guy saying "yea that thing'll be heavy"
Me and my buddy grin and say "alright we'll give it a try" luckily didn't spill anything out on the first (second) try.

I am still getting ribbed on our move two weeks ago. Gun safe, piano, milling machine, and hydraulic press.

I gave one to a guy that cut grass for me about 10 years ago. this thing was a tank and took 4 of us to get it moved. I was on one of the front corners and right when I went through the doorway that thing sprung open so hard it took me off the ground and wedged me between the sofa and door frame. I had one leg and one nut on each side of the threshold. the pain was kidney stone level. I know I had to have broke my tail bone I couldnt sit down for a month. best part was being hung up in the air thinking I am dying and the 3 guys helping move it, my wife and her 2 friends all pissing themselves laughing so hard. not a soul in the room could breathe for a good 5 minutes. I wish I had it on video.

I figure anyone over the age of 30 that is upsizing in house size and can afford to do so, can afford to drop a couple of grand and pay people to move them.

I don't mind the heavy stuff so much, don't get me wrong it isn't fun. But I help my in laws move once, I show up and they hadn't even packed everything up and expected us to help pack and move everything in one day.. They lived in a 2200 sqft home with two kids living there. So for me the two words are "Haven't Packed"

Another would be treadmill. Those things are heavy and awkward.
