Home plate Ump called a ball 4 or what appeared to be a strike. He called a real tight strike zone against Minnesota the whole game.

Coached softball a long time. Always told the kids and parents if you don't want the umpires to decide the game, don't let them. There were lots of pitches before that one.

16 regional hosts (top 16 seeds) won all 16 regionals.

13 of 16 went 3-0 to win host regional.

Only 2 (LSU and Oklahoma) had to come out of the losers bracket and force the seventh game, and one (Florida) was pushed to game 7 after waiting on the losers bracket survivor.

257 is right, Ole Miss had some good looking girls - although it's OM, so that's to be expected.

Softball would be SO MUCH more watchable, if they'd outlaw all the changing/singing (they sound like an 8yr old rec league team), and outlaw that stupid slap hitting crap where they run 3 or 4 steps out into the field before ever hitting the ball. Also, based on my limited viewing, it seems like the pitcher and infielders have a conference after every other pitch. Speed it the hell up.

True slappers can give a defense fits. Slap, drag but or hit for power, where's your defense ?

Much faster paced than baseball, and other than the same basic rules, if you think they are the same game, you'll be wrong. Different strategies, both offensively and defensively. A good softball player isn't going to be worth a crap in baseball until they got used to it and vice versa.

Very different game but for a person who knows either the transition to the other seems fairly easy. AU Myers was a very successful college baseball coach prior to softball. OM coach made the transition. The woman that has coached 1st for UA for so long was suppose to have been a very good HS baseball PLAYER before moving to softball. I think its like Yogi Berra said, its 90% mental and 50% physical.

Catching, throwing and putting the bat on the ball are all the same, but the strategies are where the differences lie both in playing and coaching. In all my years of baseball I saw one "slapper". He played for Sidney Lanier against us in high school. Every softball team has one. Softball infielders have to come up throwing on every ground ball, baseball, not always. I could go on, but you get the point.

Oh, I know. I played baseball through HS and actually made a decision to play college baseball or competitive softball. I chose softball because we would play a lot more games in a year. I played softball until 32 until life responsibilities took away so much playing time along with age I could no longer compete the way I expected. I loved the game. I looked as forward to practices as I did games. The best time of my life. I still make a few HS and college baseball and softball games each year.

Jawbone, come to think of it you may have seen me play. Stokes, Duke, Persinger, and I would play behind the Police Station. Broom handle and spray paint can top wrapped in tape.
