Well i killed a 26# bird in northern Iowa this afternoon, but the girlfriend killed the one that was with him that weighed 30#s. Just crazy how fat and healthy these birds are up here. Both would have had 1 1/4" spurs but one of hers was busted off. Thats 2 birds in this trip she's killed with busted spurs.

Congrats! Crazy about the spurs.
One of Amanda's from Oklahoma had a broken spur also. I just attributed it to the 9 Jakes he was fighting on the way to us and their natural aggressiveness. Those suckers would flat out run to a full strut decoy and try to destroy it.

Congrats on the big birds! Do you still have to apply for a tag to hunt Iowa?

Congrats on the big birds! Do you still have to apply for a tag to hunt Iowa? Yes sir Mr. Steve you sure do. It's not a big deal but not as easy as OTC tags.

And here's the 2 of them side by side. May just be an optical illusion, but even on the ground, hers looks bigger (the one on the left). Both of them had so much yellow fat it was unreal. I've never seen anything like it. They also both had craws slap full of corn. These farmers up here have just got corn in the ground in the last week or so, and it looks like these birds are working it over pretty good.

And its pretty much a sure thing in all units. But unit 4 is the highest demand(southern Iowa). We're in unit 6. Right in the far northeast tip of Iowa, right where Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin all meet.
Turkeys be damned.

Lol Every single year in the early parts of the Bama season, when I see ya'll with dead turkeys laying on flat roads with pines in the background, I always wonder if ya'll realize whatsoever how blessed you are at that given moment. Congrats to ya'll on those hefty birds. They are so fat their breasts don't even look real!
