Anybody ever tried them in a .410 load? I would have to think that if they have the killing energy of lead 5's that a fellow could get his pellet count up to the point that he could make the .410 a no doubt 45 yard turkey gun every time he pulled the trigger.

A 10 in a .410 just seems like the best combination of pattern density vs effective range

13/16 oz, Hal told me he had some reports of kills over 45 with the 10s.

I'd like to try a .410 for next year. Maybe if one of the local killers will help me with it, I'll be a bonafide killer then wink

I seriously considered it. But my 410 throws 9s exceptionally well. 130-150 countd in the 10 ring at 40 yards. Its a legit 50 yard gun.

Not him but mine shoots 130s at 40 yards with 9s. It's an old full choke single shot Steven's. No telling what it would do if I cleaned the barrel as it's never had a swab ran through it at all

I need to borrow it for a weekend next year and get a .410 bird under my belt.

I'm sure they would do great I'm getting 120 count with 9's w) .410 and just shot my 28ga with 9's and 9.5's haven't done a count but the 9.5's did alot better just by looking.

This is the first spring that guys have been shooting the 10s, but indications are that they will probably end up being the optimal size for the .410.

If I told you one of the feed-back reports I got about shooting them (in a 20 ga), you'd say the guy or I was lying, so I won't share it.

But the math indicates 50 yd plus penetration energy and with the extra pellet count, guys are getting bonafide patterns to about that distance. So, no excess either way.

Intriguing info in this post for sure! I am currently getting around 140 in the 10" at 40 yards with a beautiful 20" pattern. This is with 13/16 oz of 9.5's. I also have about 35 of them loaded and seriously doubt I will shoot more than one or two per year. Hence, I'm not chomping at the bit to try any 10's but I certainly look forward to seeing how things go for you guys!

Interesting info, Hal. I think I'm gonna try some in the open barrel on the Yildiz. After the miss yesterday I think the SBE is ready to be retired from turkey hunting.

Certain guns PCP need to be retired from the turkey woods. Permanently. Just ask brentM or Daggerz.

I'm about to put a good bit of effort into a .410 project. Gonna cut the barrel on my little single shot yildiz to 21" or so and get it threaded for choke tubes. I'll put a fastfire on it if there is enough metal on the receiver to do so.
I'm gonna experiment some with the 10's this summer as soon as I get a hold of some

There should be enough metal there. Keep us posted on how it does. Interesting stuff

An old off brand 410 with a built in full choke that I bought at a pawn shop for 100$ lol

Seriously the best 100$ I've ever spent. Couldn't believe the patterns.

The older full choked guns are way better than something produced in the last 10 years. They are constricted more than today's full choke .410's for some reason.

Because ridgestalker's gun shoots so good, I have bought or found for others about a half dozen of the same model and every one of them patterned thus far has been a no doubt 40 yard gun with Hal's load and either 9's or 9.5's. Some of them could prolly kill one much further. Pretty much all of them have been bought for $100. Stony paid a little more I think but he was ready and didnt want to exercise any patience. Lol!
