Damn.

Our guest rules hold members accountable without regulating the fun out of hunting. Members are allowed to bring one guest. Anything killed by the guest counts toward the member's quota (2 buck, 6 doe, 2 gobbler). A shooter buck is to be 4.5 or older. If the guest is unskilled at field judging, the member has to sit with him/her. Members-only days are blocked on the calendar for first 10 days at season and prime 10 days of the rut.

At the end of each season, I develop a hunting pressure report using sign-in data, observation data, and harvest data. All members get a copy as part of our accountability to one another. It illustrates individual member and collective group hunting pressure on the lease. Examples of individual member data: # hunts, # days hunted, # hours, # guests, # stands hunted, # deer observed (bucks by age class, does), # bucks killed, # doe killed. The report also shows totals for the group: avg # hunts/member, avg # hours/hunt, avg # guests/season, doe:buck ratio based on observation data, etc.

We pick like-minded members who want an intensively managed lease. Members use discretion when bringing a guest and they are accountable to fellow members.

We also charge $50/day and guest/member get last choice on where to hunt that day. The $$$ goes into a fund we use the next year for property management.

I've been in a club where college football playing sons (basically full grown men) were coming to hunt on daddy's one membership. That didn't last long for anyone in that club. Good guys, but they needed to pay for 3 memberships, not one.
