Anybody know where I can get a good price on bags of pelletized lime in the Troy/Montgomery area? Terrain is too tough to try and spread ag lime. Thanks in advance

If you have a tractor supply up that way, they put them on sale for $3 per bag from time to time.

central ala,
Can you not get a tractor to it?? I did a little over 3 tons about 2 weeks ago by myself I could only get a tractor and 3 pt spreader to. Had to travel about 1/2 mile to trailer with bulk lime, shovel it in and back. Really didn't take too long. Carry tractor to property an unload it, travel about 30 miles to get lime and back, then the spreading, back and forth, and shoveling, I was through by noon.

Tell them you want a whole pallet and they should let you have it for $3/bag. There's 70 or 72 bags per pallet. You'll need a good trailer to pick it up. 70 bags weigh 2800lbs. Make sure when they load it, they load it in the middle of the trailer, over the axles.

central ala,
On sale for $3/bag?? Dang, I didn't realise how high that stuff is!!! That's $150/ton vs. $35/ton bulk.

Thanks for the replies everybody. Well aware that ag would be cheaper (and better in the long run), but pellets would be a heck of a lot easier to get to where we need to put it. Just checked TSC website and they are showing $3.99 a bag. Looks like it may be ag lime whether we like it or not.

Spagency, they'll sell it to you for $3/bag if you buy a pallet, i know, i've done it and it wasn't on sale at the time. Yes its more expensive than ag lime, but they wont bring it to remote rough spots up my way anymore, unless they're bringing 6-8 tons, which is way more than i need. Up here they like wide roads with no rocks or mudholes.
