My son is doing an internship this summer in Mobile and needs a place to rent from mid May to early August. If anyone knows of something I would appreciate a note. I'll offer a full three day deer hunt in DC for 3 to the best lead!

I don't have anything available right now but what area is he going to be working in and I might be able to recommend a decent apartment.

Thanks, he'll be at Airbus which I think is at or near the old Coast Guard Base?

Yes, that's Brookley field. I am not really familiar with apartments in that area and he probably doesn't want to live there anyway but it's right off I10 so anything with good access to the interstate will be good. I will keep my eyes open.

Call Campus Quarters in Mobile. It is near the University of South Alabama. This is where we house our summer interns. Is it like an off camps dorm resort. It is very nice and our interns love the place. The only downside is the lease ends July 31st.

Also, Campus Quarters is not far from the Coast Guard base. If no rooms are available there, contact The Edge on Old Shell. We have housed interns there as well. It's the same type of place.

The coast guard base is not where airbus is, it's the old coast guard base and officers club in Brookley field that it is near. They are pretty far apart. The places near campus are nice but the commute in rush hour won't be the best.

I just saw old Coast Guard base. The places I suggested are near the other Coast Guard base. Either way, I would not want my kid staying downtown if they are unfamiliar with the area.

Thanks I'll look into that. His older brother is in med school at USA so I'd like them to be close. I'm not so worried about a long drive as long as he's not in the hood.

What is he looking to spend per month?

I own a condo on Dog River not far from Airbus. Good place, security gate/guard, and has a boat launch and dock with lights for fishing.

Our tenant moved out recently and I was about to put it back up for rent.

I lived in these apartments for a few months when I was between houses. They are about 10 minutes from the University and we never had any problems. Dog river area mentioned above would be nice and convenient also.

I would move to Hubbards Landing and rent one of their cabins. It's a pretty awesome place.

Brookley field is owned by The University of South Alabama and there is no place to stay there. Right now it's off limits to the general public but there are some beautiful homes sitting there rotting away that Generals and Colonels once lived in. Y'all might want too look at something further South on Dauphin Island parkway.
