I have a small open porch about 6'x 8' with a bench, side table with a candle (the importance of this will come later) and a small crate with two blankets for our cat to sleep in when he is outside. So last week I get up and the two blankets are thrown out on the porch, so I put them back in the crate, two nights later the blankets are thrown further into the front yard, and this morning I wake up and the candle is smashed at the bottom of the porch stairs. All three nights this has happened our cat was inside for the night so it isnt him and there are no dogs that I know that run stray in our neighborhood. Does this sound like a raccoon or something or do I need to really look into someone coming up to my door at night??

Sounds like a dog but it's hard to tell. I have trapped dogs miles from the nearest house and their owners would swear they never leave their yard. There are dogs wandering everywhere.

Is your house built on an an ancient Indian burial ground?

Sounds like a coon in all seriousness. Is there any food source that may be attracting it?

No food on the porch, I know raccoons will get into trashcans but our trash is a good 30 feet from the porch.

Entirely possible. Put out a can of frozen orange juice concentrate and a pair of worn out underwear to be sure.

Wild cald, or chupacabra

Naw sounds like Leprechauns are sleeping on those blankets. Ask Shaw if he or any of his relatives have been in your area? rofl
I was thinking maybe a short guy slumber party. 300 Ruger, Outback and Shaw on your front porch! rofl

Motion activated porch light would be a good, cheap investment.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I seriously LOL'd at your comment. Thanks for a good laugh. I needed it.
