What do you use to clean your guitars?

I'm in one of my "all I want to do is play guitar" phases and am about to restring all my guitars and figured I'd clean them too. I know there are plenty of products out there, but is there anything fancy you guys use?

I went to Guitar Center today....saw a Martin I've been eyeing for a while and it was on sale...I might be making a trip back this afternoon. I don't have a 6 string acoustic right now, only a 12, it sure was tempting. What is your go to guitar?

D18 Golden era.
I usually use a damp cloth to wipe a guitar off. You can buy a lot of different type cleaners at GC

I just wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. If I'm changing strings and there's some gunk buildup on the fretboard I will use some fretboard conditioner and an old toothbrush. You can use superfine steel wool on the fretboard if it's a serious job.

About the only thing I do is clean strings with the fast fret stick. Got a Seagull, Alvarez, Nashville Telecaster, black stratocaster (got it when I was big into Clapton, ha), and a Washburn HB35 hollowbody (big fan of John Bell). I typically pick up the telecaster. Compressor pedal into a heavily modified fender blues jr is pure goodness.

just a microfiber towel and dry toothbrush for the edges of the frets now. I used to use stuff like the dunlop lemon oil but after seeing some guitars ruined by some of those snake oils I stay away from it now. if I had a fret board so neglected it was cracking I might use some plain mineral oil on it but thats it.

Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

Try out one of the Big Baby Taylors before you spend big money on a Martin. Just give it a try...

Played a bunch of different guitars there, just didn't love the Taylors. I know they are great guitars, but I think my mind was already made. Got the Martin.

I don't usually clean my guitars, but after the move and them being stored weird places, some of them have some stuff built up that I wanted to get rid of. A damp and then dry cloth did the trick.

I too didn't particularly like Taylors. Great guitar but didn't seem right to me. Of course I was in college and every guy I saw that new three chords, the opening riff to a Dave Matthews song, and Wonderwall all played Taylors, so I think I mentally associated them with douches. I'll be getting a Martin next. Looking for a 60s-70s D28 if I can find a good one as I know those years can be hit or miss. If not may just get a new one.

depends on the guitar and how dirty.

is the finish nitro or poly? dirty already or just new fingerprints? if it's not heavy build up then Dunlop 65 works great. GHS polish (the cream) is great if there is heavy buildup that needs to come off, but don't use it often on nitro. naptha always works but dangerous. Virtuoso is great stuff. The Gibson pump polish always works.

All of these are nitro safe (except what I said about the GHS). All of them work on poly too. be careful what you use on nitro though.

Alvarez Cut away Acoustic electric, or Fender Strat but I never play either anymore. Got some stuff to clean the Fret once and it lasts forever. Has a Little wooden handle on the applicator, and comes with a micro fiber towel. I Will look for the name.
