Very cool post. Congrats to the kid!
I'm ignorant when It comes to building bats- Is that slab of wood sold with the purpose of becoming a bat or did you just happen to fnd something that worked?
The fool tells me his reasons; the wise man persuades me with my own.

I hate to be the party pooper, but you do realize that in most leagues it will be an illegal bat? They have to have some type of approval stamp from whatever league approves them. Besides, he has his hit now, don't let him break it. Too cool for that.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

What kind of wood did you use? That's so cool. I would be so cool to use a bat my dad made Ash

Besides, he has his hit now, don't let him break it. Too cool for that. Good work and congrat to him. I was wondering about that too. Of course when I was a kid, most of us used a wooden Louisville Slugger and there were a few aluminum bats in the team bag, but wooden bats were still king at home plate. By the time my boys were playing, wooden bats were considered evil weapons that were not to be trusted. Well, I have to agree with that just a little at least. More than once, a sharp shard off of wooden bat (basically the big half of the bat) did come flying at me on the mound.
