Fortunately not a gobbler! Spotted a red fox cruising , lip squeaked and he spun and came right in and stopped at 20 steps. Boom and away he ran! I aimed directly at his head but my Reddot is zeroed to aim mid neck. That tail was going on my granddaughters bicycle handlebar! She has a coyote on one side.

I don't understand what you're saying. My red dot is zeroed to put the center of the pattern on the dot. Why would you do anything different?

Comes from the days my guns weren't "turkey guns" . Regular shotguns that patterned 60 percent above center line and 40 percent below. I always aimed about half way down the neck and got a good pattern to slightly above the head. Plus, I like to see the head clearly as I squeeze the trigger. Works great for me on turkeys.

I've killed a few with both recurve and compound but i look back on hunts and most don't lend themselves to a high percentage shot. I'm patience enough to sit one out but I love to move on them too. I used to carry netting and had a screen rigged on the front of my bow. A blind works great but it's not mobile enough for me. Each to his own but I greatly admire a hunter who dedicates himself to bow only on turkeys.

Not sure what that means Hev, but all i know is my freezer is full. I have missed with my bow, not often. Missed quite a few with my shotgun so decided better odds with the bow year ago. Best of luck to you sir the rest of the season and I hope you get a nice Tom.

What is your freezer full of? You said you didn't have any birds. If your gonna keep this shtick going you've at least gotta maintain a consistent story line. Post of some pics of your most recent gobbler kills.... so we can see what some sho nuff PBTs look like!

I have not got a tom this year. Missed one early with my bow. Ate all my breasts from last year so no turkey in the freeze. Have two fresh deer in there from this season (guys at the chopping block do a great job) plus some elk meat a friend gave me. Have some boudin from new orleans, king crab from restarunt depot, quail from a paid hunt, duck breast from wildlife farms (we busted them real good), bass from the club and bass from lake Toho. Cant post pics. Longtime club rule. Might be a rabbit and a few squirrel left over from last year. Two whild hog loins from last year too.

Indeed! Shooting them with a bow is smart. You know where that arrow is going; nobody has any idea where the shot from a shotgun is gonna go. And a turkey's heart makes a big target.

To each his own, but I want my turkey guns to shoot to the dot. I yelp at the turkey and get him to stick his head up. If the neck is fully extended, it's about 16" from the base of his neck to the top of his head. My kill pattern at 40 yds is about 16", so I aim halfway up the neck and can see his head just fine. Center that pattern on his neck and he will be hit the full length of his head and neck and be instantly dead. But all you really have to do is get any part of the pattern to intersect with any part of his head/neck, so there is a lot of room for aiming error.

If I tried to use Kentucky windage I know I would forget which way to aim and miss a lot more.
