Tinnitus, or ringing/buzzing in the ears, can't be cured. According to this Beltone site you can get some relief from proper diet, exercise and avoiding more loud noises. It also mentions that those with high blood pressure may be at risk for tinnitus. My ears ring non-stop. I'm used to it. Aggravating sometimes but it is what it is. I don't have high blood pressure but my doctor says it's "on the edge" and always takes a good gander when I'm in for a checkup. I've lost weight in the last 3-4 years, try to eat better, walk/jog/bike maybe 20+ miles a week, etc. No meds, though. Just curious if any of you guys with high blood pressure or tinnitus have the other? I've never heard this correlation before.

I have terrible tinnitus caused by traumatic hearing loss. But I do not have high BP. I have not found anything that helps. Sorry but I think we're stuck with it. Mine is so loud at times that I figure other people could hear it.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Tinnitus for most of my life, and all of my adult life. I'm 54 and my bp is consistently within a point or two of 130/70.

Had an old army vet tell me that putting your own urine in your ear would fix tinnitus. As opposed to a strangers? I'll stick with this bumble bee that is stuck in my left ear. My ear doc told me to cut out caffeine and salt, didn't help. He was mumbling something about too much fluid in the ear something.

Said it had something to do with the pH of your urine being the same as inside your ear.

I have a mild case most days, but some evenings it gets loud. Loud music and lots of shooting without eat protection, plus one shot of a snub .38 out of passenger side window while all others rolled up...coyote. Killed the yote and my ears...since that day my tinnitus has been measurably worse.
No high blood pressure, routinely 135/72.

Non-stop for about the past 30 years. And, have have experiencing some high blood pressure issues the past couple of years. Started meds, but dropped too low, too quick. Been trying to modify diets. But, it seems that food makes it high! LOL While it is definitely worse when bp is up. It is incessant anyway....so, no big deal.
BTW, thanks for the reminder.......it will be hours before I can just 'let it go' and quit thinking about it. That is when it is really bad.....when it is on your mind!!!

Also high doses of aspirin can cause tinnitus. My father had triple bypass surgery in February 2008 and at that time I thought, "I'll be good and start taking an aspirin every morning." Like an idiot, I was taking the 325mg tablets. Did that for about six months until I saw my doctor for my annual checkup. Proudly told him and he said, "STOP! That's not good for you. Take the 61mg baby aspirin." Asked whether I had any stomach (gastric) problems -- I did not, and do not. In hindsight, about a year later is when I started noticing the tinnitus. I probably had it prior because like many of us 50ish year olds, I shot guns without hearing protection and played loud music and such. But looking back, that's when I started noticing the buzzing more frequently. So I may have contributed to it with that "I'll be a good boy and take my aspirin" routine. A dumby, I am. I'm sure the Hank, Judas Priest, Ozzy, AC/DC, Molly Hatchet and such in my younger days, along with standing arm's length from the speakers at the Molly-Blackfoot concert in Boutwell in 1985 or at the Supper Club, didn't help a bit.

I think we have a pattern. I have mild tinnitus and was at damn near every one of those concerts.

Mine started after a spinal cord injury. My right is pretty bad with the ringing but I can still hear very well in both ears

I had minor to moderate hearing loss, tinnitus and high BP before my tumor. In killing the tumor they also killed a good part of my inner ear so now I have no hearing in one ear and tinnitus that at times is so loud it drowns out what hearing I seem to have left in my other ear. People assume it is from firing guns as much as I have but I was pretty good at wearing ear protection. I always thought it was more from sitting under a siren as much as I did. With all the petty stuff OSHA deals with, I always wondered why they didn't tackle sirens for first responders?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I've been told that shooting caused mine, but I've been careful to wear ear protection, so I don't buy that explanation. I grew up on a cattle farm. Routinely cutting, raking & baling hay. I always would sit almost sideway on the tractor, watching the cutter or baler, etc. My left ear was always turned toward the engine and today my tinnitus (and hearing loss) is much worse in my left ear. Combine that with years of driving with the window rolled down. I think this is why my left ear is worse. While mine is very VERY loud, all the time, its worse when I'm stressed, angry, worried or when I have a sinus congestion.
