I've been shopping for a waterfront lot to either lease or buy that I can park my travel trailer on. Been looking at Logan Martin and Lake Martin. Lay is closer but I hear it's very stumpy and can be rough on a boat if you don't know the lake. I've only been on it once. We will be fishing and pulling the kids on the tubes. So, is the lake as stumpy as they say? Any areas worse than others? Any advice?

It's. really not that bad. We had a house in Shelby Shores. I would never buy a lot on a lake without learning the features first anyway.
To answer your question, anything from narrows to dam is fine for pulling kids but there are numerous sloughs and cuts that are stump free throughout the lake.We used to pull tubes up and down the lake all the time. Once you've been there for a while you will learn the channels cut through the stickup fields and all the places that are perfect for recreation. I prefer lay because of the drawdown and numerous shallow spots on Logan.

I know it's not lay lake, but if you haven't looked into wind creek on lake Martin you may want to consider it. I spent my childhood camping down there. Awesome place. Plenty of area for recreational boating, and it's on the best end of the lake for fishing too.

Lay can be dangerous. There are lots of areas with standing timber and stumps. With that said, there are plenty of areas for recreation. Just make sure you know the lake.
Logan Martin has less obstacles, but they drop the water there.

Thats the truth. My parents bought a house down there after we outgrew the camp scene (3 rowdy boys) 10 years later they can easily sell it for double what they paid.
