I've been talking with a few of the folks on here about bulk purchase of beekeeping equipment like Frames, Hive Boxes etc.
There would be a substantial savings on purchasing these items and it seems cheaper than trying any other route.
I can't build a box for what I bulk would cost.
If we get enough interested we can start making a move on some of this stuff.

Glad you posted this, I slap forgot about it.

You know I'd be in. I definitely need frames and foundation. I also know a guy in TX that's making woodenware now, I've got to call him. I think I told you about the Amish guy in TN, didn't I? I haven't spoken to the guy in TX yet but the Amish guy has the best prices I've seen on non-volume pricing. His prices are as good as most people's volume prices.

Maybe enough folks will reply, with what they would want, so we can total up everything.

I'd love to be able to order a pallet of Acorn foundation. I'm sure they'd split a pallet with deep and medium foundation. It would take a lot of firm commitments from people before we did that though.

If somebody wants to work up a smaller order, I can always use 100 frames.

I'm definitely in need of boxes, frames and foundation.
1x12 is $20 and I can buy a put together box for $15. Not much sense in doing it myself.
Some places have good prices but either gas or shipping shut that down.
It would be nice not to have to run all over hell and half of Georgia to get stuff.

Yes it would. The Amish guy has deeps for $11.50 IIRC and deep nucs for $8.50. That's a great price on buying one at a time and they're cypress too.

Only problem is that I talked to a guy over close to Moulton that I know, who buys all his boxes from him. He said the man cuts and mills his own lumber, so in the spring, during high demand time, his wood doesn't get dry enough and the boxes shrink. He said the work he turns out is great, but wait til fall to buy.

He suggested wating until fall.

I'm almost certainly going to need another box of deep foundation this year and I know I'm going to need one or two boxes of medium. My son and I made 50 deep frames this afternoon and added foundation. I hope to get 50 more made tomorrow afternoon. Thirty of them will be used for sure before the week is over.

I'm going to get double waxed Acorn, if anybody wants to go in and get some. I don't know if I'll order from the manufacturer or just get it in B'ham. Unless some of you want a couple hundred sheets too, shipping may be too much to get from CA.

Dang y'all. I just made 10 deeps, 16 mediums, and bought the frames for them. Made 10 swarm boxes (6 deep frames each) and just finishing up tops, bottom boards, and inner covers for 10 new hives. I've got my basement and my parents basement full of bee stuff. My BIL got a lot of cedar from job sites so I hope it works. Built about half my stuff from it, the other half from pine. Definitely more time consuming than I planned for.

I would be interested in the frames for next year. I can see I will always need more stuff if I can catch some swarms.

Maggie,

Buy a vented bee suit and go for it. You will get comfortable pretty quick. You will get used to them in no time. Just work them in the middle of the day at first and you will be fine.

If I had a line on wood I'd try to build myself but I can buy an unassembled box for about the same as I can buy a 1x12

That sounds like a good supply of equipment you've got stockpiled though. Wish I had that much so I could start on a few more hives.

I've got to buy some nucs and deeps soon. Does anyone else want to try and do a bulk order? I'm calling the guy in TX today to get prices and a shipping quote. The more we can put on a pallet the cheaper the shipping per item will be.

Okay, just talked to the guy in TX. 10 frame deeps are $10.00 each.

Five frame nucs he didn't have a price on but thinks he can do them for $8.50-$9.00 each.

It's going to be 2 weeks before he can have them ready. They are made from kiln dried Southern Yellow Pine. Finger joint boxes.

I don't know if I can wait that long. If I can, does anyone want to go in with me on an order?
