We all love to chase these birds. I ask the everyone shoot the next coon, possum, armadillo, coyote, fox, bobcat that they see while turkey hunting. Or anywhere for that matter. Assuming it's legal.

I committed to do just that even if it means ruining a hunt. Getting to be a frequent occurrence that they come to the turkey call. Happened last day of season last year as I was sliding the safety off on a bird....red fox comes trottin in.

I'll make that agreement. Good idea

I shot a coyote last year with a Tom gobbling behind him a few 100 yds. Killed the coyote and then shot the bird 20 mins later.

Thought about this a lot over the years. I hate to see turkey fall prey to coyotes,cats etc. Hens begin to sit after laying a number of eggs, if all the hens were sitting at about the same time and were not disturbed and abandoning nests it seems we would have a hell of a hatch. If all those poults hatched at about the same time and your area had a spell of really wet damp weather, you could lose an entire hatch. Predators disrupt nests and hens lay and sit again. Because of that poults are hatching over a period of a couple of months, this I believe, actually helps turkey numbers to remain stable. I could be wrong, just thinking.
