I have a 2010 Ford Fusion with 220k. Only carry liability insurance. It gets twice the MPG's my truck gets, so you can figure for every $20 I get in gas for it I just saved $20 since I didn't have to put $40 in my truck. Maintenance is cheaper on it than my 4x4 truck. Keeps miles low on my truck which increases resale value. What's another door ding to my car's door? Nothing! But I am anal about my truck. Tires for the car are cheaper. I don't mind jumping in the car if I have been working outside and gotten pretty dirty, so it keeps my truck cleaner. And for what little I drive my truck, I have it insured as driven low miles per year which is a cheaper rate. I'm sure I could add more, but you get the idea.

I had to do it recently and I was driving around in some budget car for 3 days and it cost me a lot, plus it's hard to get a ride to where you want to go after you drop it back off.
