I know that it's been covered a million times but I'm heading down to Birmingham today more specifically the hoover area. Looking for a jam up place. Saw's or someplace else?

Golden rule BBQ for the best burger in town. Tortugas pizza for Chicago style.

Saws juke joint today, tv for games and usually have a blue grass type 2or 3 person band on Sat afternoons.

If you're looking for a nicer dinner spot, Gianmarco's is execellent. Probably need a reservation. Ocean, Hot & Hot Fish Club, and Botega are all good too.

On the other end of the spectrum, Iguana Grill in Hoover is about as good of authentic Mexican food as you're going to find around BHM.

Above are good recs; but you won't get in Gianmarcos or Hot & Hot on short notice. Maybe Botegas if you take an early reservation. You can go on Open Table and check availability for most of the fine dining; if that's what you are looking for.
Bistro V in Vestavia is excellent, more casual and easier to get in. Short ribs are good.

Man my wife and I went to Golden Rule and got BBQ and it sucked. Should I go back and try the burger?

Saws is good but overpriced IMO. Tortugas for pizza.

We've been going to Mudtown lately. Great food.

Went to Saw's BBQ in Homewood. Parking sucked, but that hole in the wall was some good eating. I was stuffed on the drive back to Huntsville.

You guys are crazy, Chinese food is great. Mr Chen's and Red Pearl both were delicious when I went.

Chinese food is usually a gut bomb.

Now Korean BBQ, Thai and Vietnamese food can be amazing.

Cantina Laredo roof patio uptown is fab. Great drinks and food. Get the guacamole custom made at your table.
