Wild Turkey Rare Breed is mighty fine. Barton's Very Old is some count also. Bourbon and single-malt scotch should always be taken neat.
Middle aged, middle income, conservative, Southern, white male.

Good bourbon should never be mixed. Neat or over ice. Mixing good bourbon is akin to putting Italian dressing on your venison or putting sugar in your cornbread.
Buffalo Trace, Bookers, Blantons are all excellent neat.
For something a little cheaper but still good neat I like Elijah Craig, Bulliet or Jeffersons.

Woodford is my house bourbon. I like it either splashed with water or sprite depending on the mood.
Blanton's mixed with ice.

Buffalo trace and 4 roses are hard to beat. Both of those are on my list to try Of the three Four Roses, the Barrel Select taste the best to me. W.L. Weller is the best inexpensive whiskey I have ever tried. Old Charter is a strong second place, I always pick up a couple of bottles of those over in Rome, GA. when we go over there for supplies when we are at the cabin.

Lots of good varieties listed already. Angel's Envy is a really smooth sipper if you can find it.

I prefer my bourbon or whiskey by its self, just in the glass I'm sure there is a term for it. With the guys I hang around with its usually Bulleit, or makers. I think for our next gathering I'll pick up some buffalo trace.
