That is a little too light for a 338 WM IMHO. It would also be difficult to shoot accurately due to it's light weight. Hard-kickin' lightweight guns require a little extra attention to your shooting form or you will spray the bullets. I think this was is of the reasons Kimber Montanas have a reputation as poor shooters, and people have blamed it on Kimber. Truth probably is that many of the people who can't shoot their Kimbers have bad shooting form which is amplified with lighter weight guns. My 338 WM is 8 lbs and it will open up groups if you do not have a firm hold on the rifle. Net necessarily. I've got a Mountain Rifles Inc Super Mountaineer that weighs 4.5lbs less scope and rings. A little over 6lbs ready to hunt with a Swarovski 2-10x50. It's not hard on the shoulder, more like a shotgun recoil. It's ported but the gentleman that built it designed his own brake that helps with recoil without extreme increases in loudness. It will shoot the first 2 rounds in the same hole and throw the 3rd an inch high and a little to the right. Sounds nice. Got any pictures of the rifle to share?

I have seen one Mt Rifles Inc. that fella dies in an car accident or something long time ago as I remember.
Nice rifle. You'd better hang on to that one.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Nice rifle. You'd better hang on to that one. Correct. He had a shop in Palmer, Ak and was killed in a car wreck 8-10 years ago. I went to take a pic of mine and realized it's still at my brothers house across town. It looks exactly like this one except no stainless and has a hooded front sight and a flip down rear sight with quick release talley mounts. He used MPI stocks which are outrageously expensive. I ended up getting the gun and 4 others from a pissed off ex wife of a rich guy that decided to run off to the Caribbean to live with his secretary. It was one of those once in a lifetime deals (Cooper 6mm, Carolina Precision 7mag, Carolina Precision 22-250 and a Mathews Guns LTD .300rum and the .338). Each gun had a Swarovski scope too. The Cooper is a Western Model 52 with octagon barrel, case colored receiver, bottom metal and rings and presentation grade Walnut. I could have sold the Cooper and recouped the entire investment but decided to keep them all.
