What type of trailer tires are you guys running? Size 235/85/16. I've been running some Hi-Run 10 ply tires and after my second blow out today I'm over them. There on a dump trailer and equipment trailer both 14K trailers

Just as well buy the Chinamens tires off the internet. Cheaper anyway.

It be's that way sometimes.

I'm not sure what brand I'm running by it seems that, for most of us, trailer tires will dry rot way before ever being worn out.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I understand. I average pulling a trailer 3 or so days a week, 200 plus miles each of those days. Either loaded with equipment or material. I would rather take a kick to the cods than to fix a blow out on the side of the road

I have been running gladiator brand radial trailer tires and have been very pleased with them. The trailer i sold a to buy a new trailer couple weeks ago had 24k on the last set i put on it and had tons of life left. The new trailer will have them on it as soon as the bias ply ones wear out that can on it. I had a bunch of issues out of the goodyear marathons they kept separating or slipping a belt. The carlisle trailer tires either wore extremly fast or blew out with no warning no dry checking, over loading, over inflation or under inflation or signs of knots they'd just blow out

Yep. Sad but true.

I pretty much run whatever my local guy gets me, but change them out every three or four years on the stuff that sees highway miles.

I bought my last set from OK tire in Northport. Don't remember the brand but they're probably 8 years old. No problems other than dry rotted valve stems

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Hercules makes an all steel belted 14ply. It will handle a heavier load and the all steel sidewall will not bag like a normal tire.

I have researched this over and over because of blow outs. The best I can tell is trailer tires aren't really designed to wear out. As FB says, they should be changed every 3-4 years. There is several codes and such on the side of tire including date of manufactory. Also, the maximum pressure stated on tire will tote the maximum load. Decrease air pressure decreases the weight the tire will carry.

But what about truck tires? I have a 2011 F250 with original tires that is used for nothing but hauling, mainly a gooseneck with a lot of weight. 21,000 miles on them so far from wore out. Do they need changing?

I'm sure somebody will come along and say I am wrong, but If I was using the truck on the highway and hauling a load, I would change them Central.

My FIL had a truck similar to yours, and had a blow out on a 7 year old 10k mile tire. His buddy he bought the tires from basically said the manufactureer will not stand behind them when they are that old, and that the other three are not far from comming apart either.

central ala,
Yea, the rear tires where most of the weight from the gooseneck rides is my concern. Sure does tear up a truck when one blows. It is just so hard to replace a perfectly good looking tire with today's tire prices.

I was able to buy several sets of Denmans for my trailers, including spares, before they folded. Still satisfied with my purchase. They were far and above any I had bought before, and I had never heard of them before that.

One issue with trailer tires is the speed rating. Most guys drag their boats at 70-75 mph and most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph.
