1998 Tacoma that sees action for hauling and hunting only. I only buy Hondas and Toyotas so I very rarely need it outside of its backup purpose.

An extra is nice. I'm trying to get my old F150 straightened out. It'll be an extra, then my son will start out in it when he turns 16 in a year and a half.

I've got my '14 F150 and my K5 blazer. I mostly just drive the K5 during hunting season or when I'm feeling extra American. If worse comes to worse, I've always got my company truck too.

I have 5. Wife's ride. 2 for mail route and 2 trucks for pulling boat. One is waiting for a engine. my wifes car is a year old. I drive older vehicles so I need backup. Especially for the mail route. If it was for the mail I would not have my Jeep or crv.

Yep, our extra would be my '98 Chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 hunting /farm truck. I'd just as soon drive it as anything else unless gas is $4 bucks a gallon, not much fun then.

If the budget allows. Debating the same question now. Thinking of selling my two old and getting one new/newer.

Trying to decide this same thing myself. Not sure if I want to sell my car and get a truck to do everything, or keep my car and buy a cheaper hunting truck or SUV. I would go cheaper truck and put an aggressive tire on it. The car will be cheaper to operate, cheaper consumables and going to assume a nicer ride. I kinda had a similar realization myself, the BMW isn't going anywhere and I don't want to spend truck money so I will be towing an ATV with whatever vehicle I go with.

The 33mpg is nice, and it hasn't given me any trouble yet (83k) miles. I'm leaning towards cheaper hunting truck, but I don't want to pay insurance on two vehicles. You priced newer nicer used trucks...insurance on a $5K truck is CHEAP compared to a car note on a newer truck. An older hunting truck will have pretty well fully depreciated so insurance should be very cheap.

Yep, a backup vehicle doesn't have to be a Maybach. Something like the Honda Pilot the guy has in Classifieds is fine. Well kept, inexpensive, and reliable.
You never know when your new vehicle is gonna start crapping up these days with the lack of craftmanship and low-bidder parts they put in them. You might be down multiple times for weeks while the dealership gives you the runaround.
We keep two daily drivers and two backups.

Heck no, my truck and wife's SUV. That's plenty. If for some reason I need an extra, way easier and cheaper to rent one than keep up one. See, I feel like it's both harder and more expensive to rent. I had to do it recently and I was driving around in some budget car for 3 days and it cost me a lot, plus it's hard to get a ride to where you want to go after you drop it back off.

I kept my 05 GMC when I bought my 2015 GMC. I keep two trucks and my wife has Honda van. It's always nice to have a backup vehicle. The only problem is people like to ask to borrow it when they need a extra vehicle!
