Has anyone ever tried growing these tomatoes?

The world's largest beefsteak.
Full Description

Big news in the tomato patch! Meet the biggest tomato ever bred. And it’s not just bigger but better. Tipping the scales at up to three lbs. plus, broad-shouldered tomato titan is bigger than Big Daddy, and loaded with true heirloom tomato flavor and head-spinning fragrance. Indeterminate plants produce gorgeous, humongous fruits.
...that is what Burpee says about these tomatoes.

I cannot resist and am giving these a try this year. Having always preferred beefsteak tomatoes, these sound just about perfect & BIG!!! Looking forward to seeing if I can grow a big un!

Never tried em. I have tried several dozen kinds and always come back to Better Boys, and a red cherry and a yellow cherry plant. Of course I usually fall down and try a new one er two every year also.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I do that, too! laugh Any time I pick something in the garden, I have to pick twice what I need, because I'll eat it as fast as I pick it!

I planted 2 large set sht plants last summer but I didn't have good luck with them but then again all of my tomatoes struggled last year. From talking to a few neighbors they said they didn't have much luck last year either. Guy across the street from me got a mess of bee's last spring. Hopefully that will help some.

We always plant Better boy and Big Boy and have good luck with them. We have an 8 foot overhead bar to run our stringers on. When they reach the top we let them run back down. The will continue to produce till the frost gets them.

Crazy how things differ. Last year was one of the best years I have had with tomato plants in a long time. We ate them till we were tired of eating them and I put them up until I got sick of canning and then we gave away...

I use to try those purple, yellow, giant and all that crap type of maters, but the Better Boy can't hardly be beat. I like a good Beefsteak sammich, but I havn't had much luck growing them.

Yes and they taste great too. I plant then in the spring and again around July 4th weekend and have tomatoes from June until December.

After harvesting all the onions from the raised beds, I planted my Steakhouse tomato plants. They are behind [in maturity] my other tomatoes located in the far back left bed. I have four in the low bed - two larger and two smaller, and two in each the other high beds on the left. The far back right bed is flowers coming up where I harvested potatoes earlier. They are just getting going.

It is a big one! How much you think it weighs?

I have 6 plants with tomatoes and two more younger of the same variety. My largest tomato is probably about the size of a large egg. Nothing near ready yet.

I am terrible at estimating weights on stuff like this
but it's definitely over a pound. How much over I don't know yet but I'll try to weigh it when I pick it

I started several plants from seed, shared the plants with friends and we have a friendly competition between 5 friends to see who can grow the largest tomato of this variety.
