Anyone have any experience with them? Im looking at a 17ctx with a 60hp mercury. How well do they take waves? Top speed. Likes and dislikes? any info would be great.

Ive got a Triton VT17 Ive owned since I ordered it new in 2007. 50 Merc. Top end is around 34mph but runs real well and smooth at around 30. My only issue was they didnt set the trailer up right with the running boards sticking past the transom so over time it cracked the weld. Shoals Outdoors fixed the problem and Triton paid to have the crack welded(lifetime hull warranty) Zero issues since. It will draft in very little water, Planes quickly and runs great. I will warn you a slight swell is better than a hard chop on the water. That will beat you to death. If the winds are over 12mph I stay home. Great boats I love mine and still get compliments on it at all the ramps. You wont go wrong with a Triton. I choose it over the Tracker because its all aluminum vs. a wood deck and the console fit my long legs better. Anything else send me a PM I did a few great modifications to mine you would enjoy.

Nice boat JD, I looked at a lowe the other day and i really liked how wide it was. Im not looking to have a tournament bassboat. Just looking for something that will get me from point a to b and just be able to take the wife or some buddies out fishing.

Just looking for something that will get me from point a to b and just be able to take the wife or some buddies out fishing. Thats what I do but will get suckered into a couple tournaments every year and I give all the guys with those $40k rigs hell when I win or turn in more weight. Actually ragged ole Shaw Grigsby pretty hard a couple years ago on Gville and told him He was gonna get his arse wore out by a tin boat. He got a big kick out of that! Came up and ask me after the big bass shoot out if I wore him out, no sir but I beat him by a few ounces. Mark Mendez always asks about it, he likes my tin boat too. Pretty good info/advice on this thread, You will pay more for the Express but I dont doubt what the guys all say about them, I know several pass me like Im standing. Not Knocking the Trackers but I feel the Triton"s are superior for that style boat. Its the new Ranger Aluminum's that have caught my eye. If I ever trade thats what I want. The best advice I can give you is get the max motor its rated for or you will regret it. At the time I didnt justify $3k more for a 75 optimax, and now I wish I had it. Dont be afraid to spend a lil more up front for Motor, Trolling Motor, and Graphs, you will be glad you did trust me.

That's funny JD. How do you reckon the 60hp 4 stroke merc will run on those boats? There's a couple of used models i've seen with that outboard. The extra 3k isnt as big of a deal for me besides the fact that the wife may shoot my arse

Not sure about the 4 strokes never owned one but I would think the 60hp would be about like mine. If I ever have any engine work done, the 50hp has the same block as the 75 opti its just carburated different. Essentially Ive been told you can re-card a 50 to make a 75

I've got a bass tracker with a 75hp and it will scoot pretty good. I saved a bunch of money by going with the tracker and it does what I need it to do

Essentially Ive been told you can re-card a 50 to make a 75 a 50hp is a carb motor, a 75 opti is a direct injected motor. you could 75 hp carbs on a 50, but you couldn't make it rich enough to run right. It'll eventually sling apart. Plus the port timing is different because their two different blocks.
