I just got some RR corn to plant for ducks. I have never planted corn before. Can someone tell me about putting fertilizer on it and when to spray roundup for the first time? Thanks. What kind of Fertilizer and how much per acre?

But if you're too lazy dump at least 4 bags of the highest N fertilizer on it/acre and another 2-3/acre of 13-13-13. Spraying depends on if you're discing or not. If you are, I'd wait 3-4 weeks and hit it and again in a month. I've sprayed once and had a good crop, but lots of weeds underneath.

If using a planted, plant with 4-12-12. Once the corn is up and the weeds start growing good, hit it with roundup. Side dress it with nitrogen right before it gets to big for tractor to go over and spray one last time if desired.

We are using a planter. So should I just use a spreader and put out 4-12-12 first then plant the corn? Thanks for the info guys.

Burn down. Wait 2 or 3 weeks and throw out 2-3 bags of triple 13 per acre. Plant corn and when it gets knee high throw out 200# of N per acre and spray for the last time. I pretty much do my corn like Rem 270

My planter puts out the fertilizer as it plants, so it goes start to the plants and not everywhere else. I side dress with plow and again fertilizer goes where needed. Just get your seed bed ready and plant once warm enough.
