Guys,
I'm hoping y'all can help me in locating a 1991-1997 Land Cruiser or Lexus LX450, preferably with lower mileage and a decent exterior. I moved out to Colorado a little over a year ago and could really use something sure-footed in the snow and able to hunt/wheel in Moab on the weekends. One of the guys on here from a few years back use to buy them, maintain then, and then re-sell then a couple of years later, however I can't remember who this was and couldn't find the thread that I was searching for. If you happen to run across one, or know someone who might be willing to part with theirs, please let me know. I appreciate ya'll! Alan

Those are great SUVs. And I know you didn't ask for any advice, but a 3rd gen 4Runner with the V8 is like a slightly smaller Landcruiser. Mine is all-time 4wd, which is really AWD unless the differential is locked. The Toyotas are durable for sure.

Check Autotrader; there are a few on there

I had a 94. Very nice but got about 2 light poles per gallon.

That may have been me you're referring to. I've owned 5 previous land cruisers and 4 different 4 runners. Current one is a 2008 LC.

I had a Lexus LX450 a few years back I bought, built a bumper for it, put some tires on it, and fixed a bunch of small stuff then sold it off. I haven't bought one with the purpose of selling in a while. Last one was a 2000 LX470 that I bought wrecked and fixed, cleaned up, turned into a decent off-road truck, and just about doubled my investment on.

Watch out on the early ones (91-94 FJ80) for Head Gasket issues, but most of those should be fixed by now. I prefer the 95-97 LC/LX (FZJ-80) because of the updated interior and slightly more powerful I-6, but they're all fairly comparable. If you want to play in Moab, you should keep your eye out for one with front and rear e-lockers, but they're also hard to find. You take that truck with 33's on stock suspension and with dual lockers and you can go about anywhere you don't bottom out lifting all 4 tires.

Also worth keeping an eye out for is a 1998-2002 UZJ-100 Land Cruiser or LX470. V8, roomier, and has some good offroad prowess. No dual lockers, but you can get a rear locker in one. Still a very capable machine.

LIKE THIS ONE. You can't find a decent 95-97 for double this price.

I'll keep my eyes out for ya. Go check out http://www.ih8mud.com and look in the classifieds section and you can read up about them on their forum.

Many thanks! Bamachem, I do believe it was you. That story rings a bell. I highly respect your opinion on what constitutes a good one. Living in Rifle, I'm just over an hour from Moab and that is where everyone goes to play. It will also see travel to and from Alabama on occasion. I appreciate your help!

Endorse Bamachem's recommendation on the '98 up model. I had an '89, '93 and'95. Though the 4.5 straight six is bullet proof; hard to get out of it's own way in this heavy vehicle. '98 was first year of 4.7 V8, equally bulletproof( mine has 259k) and a much nicer vehicle after style change.

Yeah buddy. I've had mine for 10 years. They stopped making it a few years ago. V6 only now, no V4 or 8.
