Well Im glad to see some of us are having some luck this season. For me this has been the worst season I've ever had. Ive herd 1 bird, and that was in Demopolis on the 3rd morning. All my south Mississippi spots have became a wash, and Im also fixing to press charges on a poacher/tresspasser. Any update on the tresspasser? God Bless, David B.

Reads like a good hunt, besides the miss Lumpy.
Hope they crank it up for you.
I haven't been able to go in the mornings at day break for a long while.
Might get to go Good Friday morning.
Keep at it!
God Bless, David B.

Been busy all afternoon, Just getting around to posting the story. Not much to it. Our birds are just not doing anything. Gobble a little on the limb, maybe a little on the ground, absolutely non responsive to calling. I finally got fed up and thought I might have some sort of a pattern figured out. I set up this morning with a strutter decoy hoping a bird would come in to strut with him. I've been seeing groups of gobblers all strutting together. 6 on the dot a bird gobbled above me, then one to the East, then one to the west. The east bird hit the ground and seemed to be working my way so I slid around the tree so I could see him coming. A few seconds later another bird to the west gobbled and he was close. I eased back around and caught a glimpse of him coming down the ridge. Next thing I know a wad of gobblers topped the rise, saw my strutter and lined up nose to tail coming. They were all good birds so I was most definitely gonna shirt the first one in range. I let em come on in and the lead bird stopped behind a small tree, and the second one passed him. He looked at me and didn't like what he saw. It's pretty wide open cutover area and I was against the only small tree. That bird just eased around and started back up the rise, so when his buddy cleared the tree he was by I gave him a dose of TSS and he looked like a sledge hammer hit him. It was exciting and fun to shoot one, but I never even took a call out of my vest. I told myself going in I was gonna just sit where I thought they'd go and it worked out. It was over by 630. Some days I'd rather be lucky than good. 16lb. 5oz. 10" beard 1&1/8, 1&3/16 spurs

Nice! Congrats Tree Hanger! What kind of gun do you use? Mossberg 12 gauge. I just got exposed to the Tss bug. I'm gonna have to pick up a 20 gauge or maybe a 410 before next season. That's some bad stuff! 42 yards & it was like he got hit by a 9 iron!

Nothing but skeeters this morning. About carried me off. Got a little intel about some afternoon field birds I'm going to give a whirl shortly. If nothing else, maybe I can roost one for tomorrow.
Update: I missed again this afternoon. I suck

Well boys I finally closed the deal on a bird we named Clovis because his gobble was like a log truck's jake brake. He was right where I left him last Saturday, which was a mistake on his part. He did the exact same thing and I let him go off the back of the ridge and called to him 1 time as I ran to close the gap. He turned around, came back, and started spinning like a top on the ridge and gobbling. I had already planned to use a dirt mound to slip up the back side and it worked out perfect. Every time he'd gobble I would crawl a little. I got to the dirt mound and could hear him on the other side. I couldn't decide if i wanted to cluck at him or not because our birds have been running from any kind of calling all year. Finally, I decided I would just ease back and sit down because my arms and legs were jelly. When I eased back I snapped a twig, and that was all it took for him to walk over and take a peek. The TSS done its thang! 18lb 6oz. 11&3/8 beard 1&3/8, 1&1/8 spurs Scored 66.125
