I am assuming we are talking chickens here. If so, I owned Red Star at one time that are about the same, I believe, and they were excellent producers. They were very docile and would eat out of my hand. How old were the ones you bought?
Were they sexed? By color? If not, I would be interested to see how many roosters you wind up with.
Right now I have Bard Rock, Rhode Island White, Rhode Island Red, Brown Leghorn, Amberlink and Black Australorp, with a Black Australorp Rooster...he is mighty handsome and BIG! Recently had a dang hawk take out a Bard Rock...everything wants to eat a chicken! I let mine free range and something is always on the hunt for one of my girls!
Dunno if you are beginning with chickens or have had them but there is a forum on line "Backyard Chickens" where you can learn anything you want to know.

Yes im talking about production Rhode Island reds. They weren't sexed. I'm hoping to get 9 or 10 hens. The last chickens I had where mostly jersey giants. They where pretty good hens but after about 2 1/2 years they seamed to slow way way down on production. I have a pair of coons killed 9 chickens in 2 nights but I was able to shoot them in their face. They weren't laying any eggs anymore but my wife loved them things. Buddy when they heard her voice them thing who'd be skent back getting to her.

You get a couple of good years and the egg production goes down from there....
Keep us posted on what you got!
