Im wanting to get into reloading. Been looking around and on youtube. Seen a lot of talk about the hornady lock n load classic kit. Seen it at academy for 340 or so. Does any of you have one or experience with one? Ill be loading 30 06, 7mag, 308, 223, and 9mm. The lock n load set up looks like the ticket for changing back and forth on calibers. Just trying to get a kit to get me started but also want it to last. Thanks

Hornady is a quality make but you mention 9 mil amongst you calibers and if you want lotsa 9s on hand Hornady Red while good ain't your color Dillon Blue is.Yes more expense but if you buy quality once it saves in the long haul. The 550B&650 will handle your Rifle needs.

I broke my cheap Lee press last year and replaced it with a Hornady. It is a much better press and the collets work great. Make sure you go ahead and get extra of them. You will need them for every die you have if you want to take advantage of the quick change feature. PM me if you have more questions.

I probably want load much 9mm becuse its cheap but in my glock19 i can't seem to find anything it likes. Just shoots all over the place.. Mainly my rifles becuse im tired of not finding ammo my rifles like in factory ammo.. 7Mags are not cheap to buy a 40 50 dollar box of shells just to see if they group decent. That's what my plans are to buy collars for each set of dies so when i chance everything is set and ready to go.

All of us were newbies once. Brass should be uniform of same make.Cases should be full length sized to learn on.Buy factory to compare loads with.Chonograph would be money well spent. Buy one die set and learn with it.Read loading manual 3 times before starting...SLOWLY LOAD Yes i "yelled" but go slow no distractions. Most of us have 20+ years so ask anything.

Good info here. After you've read that manual 3 times, get another and do the same.

I bought dies for 223 308 30 06 and 7mag..gotta get my 9mm...ive just heard mixed reviews on loading glock19 about case bulge..but thinking about starting with 9mm or 223 to get some time in then move up...Another question i wanna load hornady sst in my deer rifles but they don't group the factory loads. Do yall think i can make them group by loading my own?

Yes you can better your accuracy by adjusting type/charge weight of powder and with your bullet seating depth. Adjust one factor until you see an improvement in accuracy then adjust another factor until the accuracy improves. These two adjustments will give you the most results. Trying different brass and primers will yield minimal improvements.

Also, belted magnums can be tricky when setting up your sizing dies. If you set the shoulder back to much when sizing, you can have case head separation. I've seen someone blow out the cases on the second loading because he set the shoulder back too much. I tried to explain this to him but he did not seem to comprehend the concept of headspace.

So don't full size the 7mm..ive seen videos were they set the die to just bump the shoulder back were it fits in the chamber good. I think id rather just neck size or bump the shoulder back on the hunting rifles. I no full size and back to spec on 9mm and 223

That's good rifle advice, now far as Glocks case bulge issue stick to start charges and lengths.Which powder, primer, bullet for 9 mil? Stay away from Lead in glock 9s.
