Posted in this forum first as I'm embarrassed to post. I have two full blooded Great Pyrenees I can no longer care for like I used to. My wife's new job requires longer hours on road and I've been diagnosed with RA and don't have the strength I used to have to take care of them. They are brother and sister from a good bloodline. I've seen them both tag team a coyote on the place I used to live. They will be three years old this coming June. Female has been spayed. Male has not been neutered. Great with kids. If anyone here knows someone that can take good care of them please let me know. I can post pics if there is any interest.

They have not been raised with livestock. It was our intent to when we had a mini farm on 23 acres. There they were free to roam. But we needed to downsize to something low maintenance. These dogs stay in a 30'x30' dog run larger than most in our neighborhood and stay in our basement at night.

Thanks to the mod/admin that put this post near top for awhile.

Thanks for responding. I'm in need of a couple of Livestock guard dogs. The problem is they must be raised with livestock. That way they learn to bond with the animals and not people. Once they bond with people they are no longer guard dogs they are pets. Great Pyrenees make great guard dogs if raised with livestock. The last one I had would not let me touch him. I had to catch him like I did the sheep. He would kill ANY strange dogs or coyotes that entered the fence. I had to really watch my little house dog when I let him out. That dog would not even allow a buzzard to lite in the pasture. Unfortunately I had to give him away when I got out of the sheep business.

I understand what you are looking for. Me and my family have been the only "livestock" they have guarded. The sire and dam of ours are in Cullman now and they each came from litter of pups from a cattle farm in Texas.
