How do you want to handle deer that have been found days after being shot? I would hope no one would just find a road kill and post it as their own. Every year we have a couple that are recovered after Mother Nature has stripped it clean and all we have is a head. Rules state whole, no capes, etc and I've tried to be pretty picky about it. I hate to do that because who the heck would hold a nasty skull just for the hell of it and go through the trouble of entering it. Of course an entire decomposing deer still meets the rules. Just trying to get some ideas for how Y'all want it to work or if you even care. So far it has not made a difference in the outcome of a contest but it came close to being up for discussion this year.

I'd say it doesn't count unless its the day after. After that point anything could've killed that deer other than you shooting at it.

I understand either way honestly, I'd say if you have trail camera pics of the deer or another member on here backing the story then it could be fine. take mine this year for instance, I have two years worth of pics of him but I wouldn't have a member on here to back my story bc no one that's on the lease I killed him on is a member here. Like Yekrut said tho, there's no way I would have held that stinking head to take a picture with it if I hadn't killed it.

It would be really hard to enforce that.

As for the other, rule says whole. Whole means the head is still attached to the body. I would go as far as to say no skeletons, that there should still be some of the hide present. That's still not going to keep someone from entering a blowed up roadkill just to win a contest for bragging rights though.

I'd say unless you are actually winning something of value it won't matter.

I say count it.

If someone wants to lie about a stinking head of antlers, that ain't his/hers to begin with, and they can't per the rules, they are going to cheat elsewhere. The truth will eventually come out, and at that point, I wouldn't want to be the fellow/gal that did it.

Now, if there is some sort of prize money, or something of value, for the winners, the current rules of a deer with hide, full body, etc. should be enforced.

Bad shots, and poor first recovery attempts will happen to anybody.

As for the Aldeer contest, it won't bother me one way or the other though, in what is determined to be the best rule.

Brandon, I think you have done a great job in managing all the headaches that come with the contests.

Thanks for all your time, and effort in making it happen! thumbup

Current rules have worked fine for the 6 years I have been a part of this contest. Why change now.

I agree with this, but how are you going to enforce it.

While the Bama only rule sounds good at first, what about for us out of state members? I can't participate because I have to hunt the tiny deer in South Mississippi?

I would be for a rule that eliminates states that have a noticeably larger and greater sized deer herd.
