Actually, Front heel down, back heel up has been the taught method for years. It gives you more mobility and shave 10'ths of a second of foot work movements.

It also allows you to pivot and torque more effiently, thus with more power.

But in the last era a lot of trainers etc do like the both heels down method, but a lot of old schools fighters have a hard time adjusting to it.

Ive tried both, I still prefer the back heel up method.

It works as a shock absorber better and allows you to TAKE a hit MUCH better.

That 2 - 3 inches of rolling backwards can easily be the difference between surviving a heavy hit or hitting the ground.

And no matter what anyone tells you..how well you TAKE a hit is every bit as important of how hard you hit IMO.

But, then again..what do I know...I did just stay in a Holiday Inn last night though.

The waste comes from standing on your heels and wasting the opportunity to move quickly thus being able to strike more and avoid some of the incoming strikes. But each to his own.

I understand the fighting part, just not sure what kind of "waste" were talking about here...
