If Freeze didn't know what was going on, then he is guilty of the two most serious charges. Yep. When your the head coach..... "I didn't know" is an unacceptable answer, even if it's true

That's where you're wrong. It was no more important to me then than it is now. I just find it hilarious that grown men become totally obsessed with a bunch of 20 year old kids, to the point of worshiping them. Bammers are the worst about this, so naturally I find it hilarious to watch bammers sulk about their beloved squad losing Yes, your continuous posting and reading of the sports forum lets us all know just how little you personally care, and how much better things you have to do. Shame on all the rest of us for caring about our teams.

Freeze is screwed two ways to Sunday.
If he says he didn't know or have any idea, then he lost control. But all coaches know what's going on (even those with a great, longtime and careful payout network like the REC).
If he says he knew about Level I violations then he's going to be fired and probably given a show cause order.

LOL...it always comes back to Bama with Auburn fans. Gotta tie Bama into it somehow...some way. It's like a Tourettes tic with you people.

"You people" know it's been going on for 50+ years. Also has been at Auburn. I've talked with bagmen and money men and it ain't just storytales, but whatever y'all want to think about your purity and virtue.
All teams' boosters and some coaches cheat. Some just are better at not getting caught. And when they get sloppy doing it they get caught. The smart ones tighten ranks and don't get caught again, or for years.
Ole Miss will be set back for another 15 years for this. It's already been 5 since it started.

A couple of sites were reporting yesterday that at least $250,000 had been given to the Nkemdiche family. If that's true and can be proven, then damn...

Yowza. That's something like Albert Means and Scam Newton money, ain't it? Holy crap.
All of this reminds me of the scene in Goodfellas after the airline heist when Jimmy tells everyone to put away their money, not spend it, don't be flashy out buying fancy stuff. And then Carbonne comes in to the party with a new Cadillac and his wife in a big fur coat, and Jimmy goes nuts.
Ole Miss bought fur coats and Cadillacs instead of making charitable donations to churches. Morons. They deserved to be caught.

No one said anything about "purity" or "virtue". I was simply addressing the fact that, in a thread about the NCAA about to come down on Ole Miss like a pimp on a freelancing whore, you somehow felt the need to mention the REC in the discussion. I do get a kick out of you and others who think cheating is so "organized" at Alabama, though.

Ole Miss throwing MSU under the bus? Shocked!
Wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA started looking around elsewhere, even with all the immunity deals and such.

In the end I might end up being wrong, but I still firmly believe that Coach Freeze, aka Mater, has been and will continue to run the program in the proper manner. Not for a moment do I think he has encouraged cheating or illegal recruiting, turned a blind eye to it going on, or in any way created an environment where that was the unofficial way to recruit. Further I do think this was all hidden from Freeze and others in the Program who demand integrity. Yet, it is easy to look to the head coach as the overseer of the whole program and that is a correct view in most cases.
Now...it is very obvious that some boosters and some football staffers were willing to break and bend the rules to land recruits in the shadows. They willfully went against NCAA, SEC and Ole Miss rules, regulations and policies. Further, they have embarrassed the University and have crapped on what Freeze has publicly stood for. For that, there should be and will be severe consequences. No way around it and it would be a proper punishment...because someone has to pay for the wrong doing and we all know the school is the one who always pays.
Sadly the University, the players and the coaching staff along with good fans and good booster will have to pay that price of non-compliance for the secret actions of some unethical and dirty boosters and a staff member.
I hate cheating. If it comes out that Freeze knew, ignored or fostered that type of actions and environment...then he and the entire staff should be fired immediately. As a proud Ole Miss alum and a reasonable Rebel fan...I hope the whole Truth is revealed and that the "just but appropriate" penalties are handed down for what actually transpired.
